General Description



Measurement of nitrate utilizing a UV deuterium lamp with a spectral range of 190 to 370 nm to measure the concentration of nitrate ions in seawater using a 10 mm pathlength.

Description Measurement of Absorbance at 254nm, outside of the wavelength integration range, this value is used to assess the impact of colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM) on the sample. When values are greater than 1.3 A.U. CDOM may affect the light availability to take this measurement accurately. Measurement of Absorbance at 350nm, outside of the wavelength integration range, this value is used to assess the impact of colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM) on the sample. When values are greater than 1.3 A.U. CDOM may affect the light availability to take this measurement accurately. Raw array of measurements over the sensors spectral operating range of 190 to 370nm, reported in Counts. The bromide concentration is estimated and used to correct nitrate absorption due to its contribution as an interfering species. The cumulative lamp time of the UV lamp source, reported in seconds. Maximum recommended lamp life is 900 hours or 3,240,000 seconds. Further, this can be used to monitor drift per hour of lamp time (<0.3µm or <0.004mgN/L). Spectrum average of dark measurement (SATSDF). This value is provided by the sensor and is used to derive processed parameters. Internal relative humidity measurement within the SUNA V2 in percent, used for diagnostic purposes. A reading of >50% may be indicative of a leak or other issue. Internal temperature measurement within the SUNA V2 in degrees Celsius, used for diagnostic purposes. The internal voltage of the sensor, value should read ~~~~12 Volts, used for diagnostic purposes. Lamp temperature measurement within the SUNA V2 in degrees Celsius, used for diagnostic purposes. If a temperature of 35°C is reached, the sensor will override the user configurations and will conduct multiple dark cycles until the lamp temperature is below the lamp temperature threshold. Derived nitrate concentration utilizing the Sakamoto et. al (2009) algorigthm that takes raw spectrum data, incorporates in-situ temperature and salinity from the thermosalinograph and removes the bromide component, data are reported in µM. Internal temperature measurement of the SUNA V2 spectrometer in degrees Celsius, used for diagnostic purposes.
